Webvio is by no means a top contender for a digital agency in terms of followers on social media. Across all our platforms we have less than 1500 followers. However, from this, we have generated a plethora of leads from our business. Some have turned into deals for us and they were completely free leads. What we do well is finding niche content and create value around this. An example, on our Youtube channel we have a lot of content around Webflow to Shopify conversions. People watch these videos, see us as an expert in this space, and then reach out to us.
In this article, you will gain actionable knowledge about what type of content to post, how to automate posting, and how to grow on social media.
If you are just starting out I would recommend sticking to one or two platforms you think will best reach your target audience. Right now, Tik Tok is a great platform to easily grow on. If you have a fashion eCommerce business, then Instagram might be the way to go. To sum this up, determine the best platforms to reach your target audience.
To determine what content to post, let’s lay out the type of content buckets: Promote - Inform - Entertain - Inspire - Education - Conversation - Connection
It’s important to define your brand messaging, audience, and target persona to know which types of content buckets you should use. For example, if you are a B2B company the buckets your content should fall under are education, informing, and promotion. You are giving your prospects and followers value who could potentially be clients while also simultaneously building brand authority by establishing yourself as an expert in your field.
Going back to the fashion eCommerce brand they may want to post gorgeous images of their clothing on Instagram to evict emotion and “inspire”
For a pet supply company, they may want to post dog memes to engage their audience.
One of the best ways to tackle this is to search the most relevant hashtags for your brand and see what other companies in that space are posting. You can then reverse engineer their content and use that information to help your brand build a killer social media strategy.
Unfortunately, other than Tik Tok, it’s not going to be a quick journey. Social media is a long-term play. If you want to expedite your success use the social platform’s business manager to run brand awareness campaigns to gain followers or collaborate with other influencers to give you a shout-out.
The harsh truth is that it is a grind and the businesses that stay consistent & persistent in this space will win. Here are a few actionable strategies to help you grow:
Gary V’s $1.80 strategy: Find the top 10 hashtags for your brand, look through the 9 most relevant and recent posts, and comment your 2 cents. It’s .02 cents, on 9 posts for 10 hashtags every day. That all adds up to $1.80
Be social: social media is a “social” place. Spend some time swiping up on stories, sending DMs, and commenting. This will pay off over time. The number one thing to remember with this is to be genuine and authentic. Don’t look like another Instagram or Facebook bot
Our number one recommended tool for content creation is https://www.canva.com/ This tool helps you create gorgeous content, create a brand kit and templates for content, and lets you schedule and post content directly to your social platforms. Essentially, you could spend a few hours each month creating content in bulk and scheduling it throughout the month. We love automation!
Loomly and Apphi are other create scheduling software that have more advanced features.
Depending on your brand, just picking up your iPhone and creating a quick video about relevant or valuable information about your niche is a great way to create engaging content.
